Hi!
My dance partner and I are searching for some more structured online classes for Kizomba (ideally not urban kiz). Does anyone have any recommendation? We are ok both with a weekly couples class done through Zoom (California evening time preferably) or just a website with a comprehensive set of videos! Found some for the second kind but wanted to check if anyone has any that they recommend.
With regard to level, I would say that a little over beginners. We took some classes before Covid and we dance together regularly but we don't have much experience. We both also have more extensive experience with cuban salsa/casino although this might be a hindrance ;).

So the difference between salsa on 1 and salsa on 2 is the timing. But from the videos I've watched on youtube I think cuban salsa and salsa on 1 have the same timing, is that correct? So what's the difference if it's not the timing?
I'm a beginner, please help haha

Hi, a little prehistory - people in my town are mostly dancing LA salsa so DJs are mostly playing more music that suits that style, but I fell in love with salsa casino (Cuban salsa) rumba, afro, etc. At the beginning of my salsa life, I was dancing to everything and was not really filling the difference. But with time the knowledge came, I discovered Havana D'Premeira, Elito Reve y Su Charangon, Alexandr Abreu, Tromboranga, El Nino y La Verdad, Timbalive, and many other artists, bands. And now I'm more in love with those African patterns, cuban rumba rhythms...
So, I hope you will share some other great pieces of cuban salsa, timba music you enjoy and can't keep calm to.
And another question is - where to find/buy/download it because many great tracks that I find in videos from online classes or just parties are not on any music services like Spotify.

Hi, this is my 4th year into my salsa journey, I've been to a couple of 3-4 days festivals with international artists in the last years and this year I was kind of wishing to go abroad to some international festival.
Yeah I know, that went out of the window...
Now... most of festival videos I see online have people dancing on1 or on2, I do dance on1 but in my area, Rome, we mostly dance "cuban" salsa, so..
I was wondering if anyone of you has some festival experience that can help me understand if I could have no trouble whatsoever or people could actually look at me like an alien and follows be put off by the style i'm more accustomed to

Hi, I'm getting bored of practicing shines. Can anyone recommend resources for learning cuban salsa? I have around 8 months of experience as a lead dancing on1. I could start learning with a flatmate.

Some songs seem to suit certain styles making it easier to dance. What type of salsa song best suits Cuban, LA and NY and cali style salsa? Or can they be danced to any salsa music?

I've been on and off social dancing for a year and two, I'm initially a rumba and tango dancer but moved on to bachata and salsa. Bachata is super simple which is why I love it. But salsa has a thoroughly explained history, for example, how fania records helped with the rise of it. The name itself, and different types of dances like:
salsa casino, calena, cubano, on 1 and on 2, and more. It's difficult to find accuracy in the webs asides that it all started from the DR. I know there is bachata latin, cuban, sensual/western, and the OG bachata from DR.
What's bachata's history? And what are its popular bands and artists? In salsa, people know Marc Anthony, any equivalent explanations?

I'm currently on a vacation in Seattle and would love to go salsa dancing. But it's a big city and I don't know it at all, so I'm hoping maybe some of you guys can point me anywhere? I mainly dance Cubana/on 1 but I'm fairly confident I could make due in other settings

I am a permanent traveler and recently learned Cuban style salsa dancing. Maybe I am overthinking this, but now I wonder ....
When I arrive in a new city how do I figure out what style the locals dance?
Is or worth taking the time to ask around, or can I assume that if I am a sufficiently good lead in Cuban salsa that I can lead a woman who knows a different salsa style?
Any experience on how to handle this?

Hello all,
I recently learned the salsa step on youtube after seeing some people doing salsa on a trip abroad. I then recently started salsa lessons. When I went there the style they were doing was cuban salsa, so the step varied from the one I learnt on youtube. I've been practising the one that was done at the class. As I am too impatient, I can't wait until next week to get some answers to some of my questions.

This is very similar, if not the same, to the one we did as a warm up.
However I remember the instructor saying that the man always starts with the left foot. Why is that not the case here? All these different styles are really confusing me. I don't know if I should actually be concerned about the little details or just keep going to the classes and just eventually get it :D

I was blown away how dancing seems to be in everyone's blood and how complex their style of salsa could be. I'm not familiar with salsa in the US, but I haven't seen people that good before.
I took an hour and a half lesson from a local, but I would like to continue learning how to salsa. So far I have tried looking for cubano style of salsa on youtube without luck. If anyone could link any online resources, I would appreciate it.

Hey all! So I've been playing with the idea of learning how to dance salsa for a while and found a dance school near my house for a reasonable price. Thing is there are two different styles of salsa, NY Style and Casino. Can anyone explain the difference between both styles? Also, if I learn Casino style, would I have difficulties dancing with someone who knows another style of salsa?

Has anyone ever studied the MCC method for dancing Casino? All the Cuban Salsa classes I have taken only teach patterns and not technique. When I researched technique on my own, MCC is the only system that pops up.
The Youtube videos are not really all that detailed. They are mainly demonstrations. Plus, my Spanish is too rusty and I have to constantly rewind them to translate.
My main confusion is the admonishment of doing a back step. I don't really understand how to do even basic patterns (guapea, dile que no) without a back step. I have been substituting a step in place or a side step for the back step but not sure if that's what they mean.

No experience or partner is necessary- just come prepared to have a great time!
What is Rueda de Casino?
Rueda de Casino is a unique form of salsa that originated in the streets of Cuba. Dancers move along from partner to partner, making a Rueda (or wheel) by moves initiated by a caller. It is a fantastic way to learn a new social type of dancing and more about Casino Cuban Salsa.
